Whatever else is going on at the club there can be no doubting the team spirit. You only need to look at the photographs on the Official Web-site. A superb photo of Rickie Lambert in an embrace (a manly hug) with young Alex OC is a gem. So too is the pic of the whole team, including Kelvin Davis, surrounding the the lad after he had scored his goal. Kelvin had run half the length of the pitch to get in on the scene. The group hug at the final whistle showed how much the win had meant to the team.

I thought Chamberlain had had a quiet but effective game without setting the world alight, but he took his goal like a seasoned pro. It was his full debut and he played the 90 minutes and scored the clinching goal, not a bad nights work for a sixteen year old. He has filled out a bit since last year and he is still growing. He seems to have his feet on the ground and last week when I took a tour after the team had had a training session at St Mary's he quietly signed autographs for some youngsters on my tour and looked pleased to be doing so.
It is early days but I think we might have another talented youngster coming off the assembly line. He needs to kick on now and that goal last night will help. I doubt if his Dad will let it go to his head.

Alex only has to look at Adam Lallana to see what hard work and dedication does. I thought Adam was brilliant last night, his energy after having had no pre season shows how fit he is. His fitness, enthusiasm, undoubted skill and vision makes me think Adam Lallana might turn out to be the best we have had for avery long time. He always looks to be enjoying himself.

I am getting over Saturday already.
