Charlton 2-1 Saints
- The Valley
- Sunday 9th November 2025
Charlton have had a good start to the season, and sit top of the table, winning 6 of their 8 games, losing none, but it was Saints who had the better of a lot of the first half, with Megan Collett having the first real shot of the game, a long-range strike that dipped just behind the crossbar. Chloe Peplow also tried a long-range shot, which missed the target. Then, ten minutes before half-time, against the run of play, Charlton scored with a lofted attempt from long range, seeing Saints go into the break 1-0 down.
Ten minutes into the second half, Charlton got their second. After winning a free-kick on the left side of the box, the ball went all the way into the far corner.
Saints didn’t let their heads drop and continued to push on, with Jess Simpson having her own chance from a free-kick, but her effort went straight into the hands of the Charlton keeper. Ellie Brazil also had a good chance as she ran into space after collecting the ball from Abbie Ferguson, but her final shot went wide of the post.
In stoppage time, Saints pulled a goal back through Tara Bourne, who tapped in at the back post after substitute Ruby-Rae Tucker had fired the ball across the box.
Saints deserved more for the game, but Charlton showed that they are top for a reason.
