Signed Tuesday, 1st July 2025

  • Age: 21
  • Fee paid
  • Previous Club: Hoffenheim (D)

Joshua is of Ghanaian stock but was born in Duisburg on 26 July 2004. He learned at the academies of Schalke, Düsseldorf and Essen before joining Hoffenheim in 2022. He mostly appeared for the 2nd XI but made a brief sub appearance for the 1st XI later that year. In 2023, he was promoted to the Bundesliga squad but spent the second half of the next 2 seasons out on loan: at Düsseldorf in ’24 and Greuther Furth this year.

Joshua has collected youth caps for Germany at 2 different age groups.

Another tall player, Joshua, also possesses a frightening turn of speed, so he should be able to run down the quickest of opponents.

Signed: Wednesday, 9th July 2025

  • Age: 21
  • Fee paid
  • Previous Club: Koln (D)

Born to an American father and German mother in Werneck, Bavaria on 6 July 2004, Damion moved to Texas the following year. He played Gridiron till moving back to Germany at the age of 9, and began playing football.

He enrolled in academies at Schweinfurt and Ingolstadt before joining Koln in 2020. In 2023, he was promoted to Koln Reserves, signed professional terms and made his Bundesliga debut for the First XI. He played just 173 minutes and scored twice in Koln’s relegation season. In 24/25, he made 32 appearances with 11 goals as Koln were promoted back at the first attempt.

Damion played 5 U20 games for Germany last year but switched to Mopo’s USA this year and has played 5 times for USMT, the final 3 being in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, where he scored the penalty that took the US to the semi-finals.

Damion likes to carry the ball and shoot from distance, but at 6ft 4, he ought also to pose an aerial threat.

Mads Roerslev

Signed: Thursday, 21st August 2025

  • Age: 26
  • Fee paid
  • Previous Club: Brentford

Mads is a native of Copenhagen, born on 23 June 99. He joined FC Copenhagen’s academy and made a substitute appearance for the 1st XI at the age of 16, scoring on his debut. He earned a new 4-year contract in 2017 but appeared just 13 times for Copenhagen and 7 times out on loan.

In 2019, he signed for Brentford B, but after making 10 1st XI appearances, he was given another 4-year contract. Mads was never a first-choice right back, but injuries to others gave him opportunities to play there, at wing back or a back three. During his 2nd season, Brentford reached the Championship play-off final, in which Mads got an assist as the Bees were promoted.

He followed 36 EFL appearances in 2 seasons with 110 in the EPL during the next four. Last January, he went to Hoffenheim on loan, making 7 appearances.

Mads won 40 youth caps for Denmark and has a single full cap when he started against Serbia last November.

None of the ITK brigade saw his move to Saints until it appeared on the OS on 21st August. Standing 6ft Mads has a good engine for getting up and down the wing and is regarded as a decent crosser of the ball. He came on as a substitute in our home game with Stoke.

George Long

Signed: Monday, 25th August 2025

  • Age: 31
  • On loan from: Norwich

Born in Sheffield on 5/11/93, George joined the Blades’ academy aged 8 and made his first-team debut aged 17, their youngest ever starter. He got his first professional contract in 2012 and made 100 appearances plus 68 on loan before moving to Hull in 2018.

He made 57 appearances during his 3 years there before moving to Millwall as a free agent. His first season was as their “cup keeper” but in 22/23, he made 41 total appearances before going to Norwich on a free.

As a backup keeper, George only played 16 times in the last 2 seasons, but did sign an extended contract. With Lumley gone and Moody facing a full PL2 season, he jumped at the chance to come to Saints as our third keeper behind Baz and Alex.

Finn Azaz

Signed: Friday, 29th August 2025

  • Age: 25
  • Fee Paid
  • Previous Club: Middlesbrough

Finn turns 25 on 7 September and has joined Saints to complete the full set of EFL promotions. He has already won League Two with Cheltenham and League One at Plymouth and feels joining Saints improves his shot at winning the Championship. An attacking midfielder with goals and assists, Finn takes our vacant number 10 shirt as Matty F joins West Ham.

Finn was born in London to an Israeli father and an Irish mother. He grew up in Birmingham, joining WBA’s academy aged 9. He passed a chairload of GCSEs and, while full-time with the Baggies, a couple of A levels. He speaks fluent French and Spanish.

In 2020, Finn spent a season on loan at Cheltenham, helping them win promotion. He was then sold to Villa and loaned to Newport County (L2 21/22) before his second promotion at Plymouth (L1 22/23). He spent the first half of 23/24 at Plymouth in Tier 2 before being sold to Boro in Jan 24.

He has made 68 appearances for Boro, scoring 17 goals and making loads more assists. He chose to adopt his Mum’s country, making his U21 debut ... against Israel!! Since then, he has won 7 full caps and scored his first RoI goal in their win in Bulgaria last March.

Finn is a bright, ambitious young man who aligns closely with Will Still’s view of how football should be played. His development into a senior player at Saints could be key to brighter days on the banks of the Itchen.

Tom Fellows

Signed: Friday, 29th August 2025

  • Age: 22
  • Fee Paid
  • Previous Club: West Bromwich Albion

Brummie Tom, born 25/07/03, is a 6ft winger who can both carry and cross the ball. After 9 years at the Baggies’ Academy, he earned his pro contract in 2021. During the next four seasons, he made 92 appearances for WBA, scoring 9 goals, with much of 22/23 at Crawley, where he played 40 times.

He’d already made 4 more appearances this season before Southampton came calling, and he was the second arrival (after Azaz) on Super Friday.

Tom helped Baggies U21S win the Premier League Cup in 2022 and was voted WBA Young Player of the Year in both 23 and 25. He won his first 2 England caps at U20 level last year and then 3 appearances for the U21S, including as a substitute in Slovakia as we retained the U23 Euros in June.

Casper Jander

Signed: Friday, 29th August 2025

  • Age: 22
  • Fee Paid
  • Previous Club: Nurnberg

Another 6ft 22-year-old, Caspar, hails from Munster. He joined a local academy at 5 but was scooped up by Preuben Munster in 2013, then Dortmund in 2015. Between the ages of 14 and 18, he was at the Schalke academy, where he crossed paths with Josh Quarshie but could not earn a professional contract.

In 2021, he dropped down to Tier 3 Duisburg, where he made his professional debut in early 2022 and made 60 appearances over the next 2 and a half seasons. In 2024, he moved to Nürnberg in Bundesliga 2, where he made 33 appearances and scored 3 times.

Caspar typifies the ideal Spors player. He is big, has a great engine and does both the attacking and defending sides of the job. Despite his love of playing in midfield, he can hold his own at centre back if required.

If Flynn has many more tummy troubles, he may find the German has stolen his place…

Elias Jalert

Signed: Sunday, 31st August 2025

  • Age: 22
  • Season loan from: Galatasaray

Not every window does Saints sign two Danish full-backs yet, hot on the heels of Mads Roerslev, along comes Elias Jelert. Another 6ft 22-year-old, Elias, hails from just north of Copenhagen, where he enrolled in his local academy at the age of five.

In 2014, he moved to Copenhagen’s academy, earning his pro contract in 2021 and making his Superliga debut soon after. In 3 seasons, he made 97 appearances, including 4 UCL and 17 UEL games.

With 2 years left on his contract, he was transferred to Galatasaray for €9M in 2024. In Istanbul, he played 35 times, including 2 UCL and 11 UEL matches.

In just 4 seasons, Elias has won the Danish league twice, the Turkish league once and has medals for winning cups in both countries. A serial winner and the ability to play on the left or right make Elias a good recruit, and allowed both Bree and Taylor to be loaned out.

Leo Scienza

Signed: Monday, 1st September 2025

  • Age: 27
  • Fee Paid
  • Previous Club: Heidenheim

Leo was the last and potentially the most exciting signing of our Summer. Born on 13/09/98 in Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state in Brazil and bordering Uruguay and Argentina, he has both Brazilian and Luxembourg antecedents.

Leo didn’t take up soccer seriously till his mid-teens, but was a keen Futsal player as a kid, and he believes this grounding has made him a better footballer. At 15, he joined local club Avenida, but after a year, he moved to the neighbouring state of Santa Catarina to play for Chapocoense.

This may ring a bell with some of you. This was the club whose plane crashed on the way to the 2016 Copa Sudamericana (like our Europa League) final in Colombia. Only 3 of the 22 players survived, with just 2 able to play again.

Leo had returned to his home state the summer before the crash, spending that season with Lajedaense. For his final academy year, he went south to Uruguay and played for (their third best side after Penarol and Nacional) Defensor. He was not retained and returned to Brazil.

Eventually, he was signed by Lajedaense but only made 2 appearances. At the age of 20, with his career going nowhere, he shipped out and flew to Europe. He arrived in Sweden and found 5th-tier Fanna BK, where he played 21 games, scoring 12 times.

Next, he tried his luck in Germany and was signed by Schalke, playing 59 times for Schalke 2, scoring 15 goals. In 2022, he moved up to Bundesliga 2 with Magdeburg, but after 11 appearances without a goal, he was put into the reserves, where he scored 13 times in 10 games. The 23/24 season saw Leo at Ulm in tier 3, where he scored 12 in 34 games.

That was the season that Heidenheim surprised everyone by finishing 8th in their first season in the Bundesliga. With Conference League football to contend with in 24/25, they looked to add depth to their squad on a budget.

They brought in Leo, and he played in 37 matches, 8 in Europe and 2 in both legs of the relegation playoff with Elversburg last May.

He didn’t start the home leg but was sent on for the 2nd half with his side 0-2 down. He changed the game. He dominated the half and was instrumental in both goals to tie the match.

Four days later, he started the away leg and laid on the pass to Honsak, who put them 1-0. Elversburg tied the game on 30m, and the next hour was a tense affair with both sides trying to gain an advantage. Then on 95m, with penalties beckoning, Leo collected a ball on the left, cut inside his marker and smashed it home to keep his club in the Bundesliga.

With 3 goals in 3 games this season already, he seems up for the challenge of helping SFC back to the League of Greed!
