    |God how I hate Spurs and everything they stand for, coupled now with José Mourinho as Manager the whole outfit is a perfect storm of annoyance. Saints were so much better in every department than the North London side and yet, somehow they contrived to lose the replay.

More concerning was the injury to James Ward-Prowses' knee just before half-time. It looked horrendous and Shane Long could clearly be heard on live TV saying "F+ck me, you can see the f+cking bone". After the match Ralph Hasenhüttl said that the club were hoping that it was nothing more than a deep cut and that there was a chance that he might be back for the next home game against Burnley on Februray 15th. Here's hoping.

As for the team, Angus Gunn was back in goal, with the back four of JWP in the absence of any other option, Jack Stephens, Jan Bednarek and Ryan Bertrand. Midfield was Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and filling Ward-Prowses' usual slot was Oriol Romeu. The wide players were Sofiane Boufal and Nathan Redmond, with Shane Long and Danny Ings at the front.

Shane Long scored, after Lloris could only push away a shot from Nathan Redmond

    Match Report

    IBO Reporter : channonite

    |An extremely disappointing end to Saints FACup campaign this season. They were clealrly much the better side for so much of the match that it was gallling when Spurs first equalised through a mistake and then gained a barely creditable penalty three minutes from time, when Son already falling, just about brushed Gunn in the penalty area. After theatrically brandishing an imaginary red card, Son stepped up and converted the spot kick. It felt to us watching fans that we had just been mugged.

    So, back to the league.
