    |Let's just say that these fixtures have not been kind to Saints. Sometimes we run them close, more often than not it isn't. Victories are rarer than hen's teeth. Since returning to the Premier League in 2012 Saints record away against Spurs is W1 D0 L9. With this background, the most that I could possibly imagine was a fighting draw and escaping with honour intact and even the chances of that looked slim...

But this is football and there is always hope.

Fraser Forster returned in goal for Saints, with Willy Caballero dropping to the bench, Ralph returned to a back four, made up of Walker-Peters, Bednarek, Salisu and Perraud.

In midfield Ward-Prowse was joined by Romeu, with Stuart Armstrong and Moi Elyounoussi on either flank. Broja and Adams were the front pair.

For those present at the FACup game at St.Mary's last Saturday it was a surprise to see Broja in the starting lineup tonight, given that he had to be carried off the pitch that night. A very welcome sight though.

Livramento was missing from the squad altogether, but on the bench was Djenepo, having returned from the Africa Cup of Nations, after Mali's exit at the last 16 stage on penalties.

Elyounoussi scored Saints second equaliser with a spectacular diving header from a James Ward-Prowse cross
